Portal was a collection of young people with a passion for music and performance, who came together to organise two live music events as a part of “The Youth Takeover” festival.

The young organisers had a chance to construct team skills and put their minds to planning the two events at a lavish weekend getaway at The Trafford Hall, Chester. They believed they had the ability to produce two remarkable shows in a new and innovative style – for young people by young people.

The two events took place on 22nd and 30th march in Oldham and Manchester giving young people the opportunity to perform on stage in front of an audience. Artists of many different genres of music were invited to perform, from indie to rap, and from bands to solo artists & it was all FREE!

The first live music event which was held at The Old Museum in Oldham was a success as the acts were wonderful. The effort put in by the young organisers and the performers was incredible and very inspiring. Having the henna artist present on the day added a touch of uniqueness and formed an amusing environment for the audience to enjoy.

Followed by the second event which took place on the 30th March at Band on the Wall, the audiences were blown away by a series of live music and dance performances as they enjoyed a relaxing and exquisite afternoon. All the performers displayed great enthusiasm during the event and were eager to prove their ability. The audience was treated to a fine array of musical talents throughout the afternoon and had a chance to socialise with people from different backgrounds. Overall, it was a lovely afternoon filled with laughs & entertainment!
